In Regolith, Brent Reilly presents fascinating political discussions along with intriguing facts about outer space and a potential world outside of the realm of existence-to our knowledge; all of this is weaved together by the protagonist Henry Jackson, Director of Spacewatch, and his survival efforts during the chaos-by way of a spaceship to save the world.
For those who believe in the May 21st 2011 doomsday date, it's right around the corner. In that regard, Regolith is the perfect book to explore the idea of destruction and reconstruction. Though not explicitly stated, the impression one gets from reading the book is the idea that all things come to an end at one point or another. The cycle of life is to build up, tear down, and build up once again.
More specifically, the apocalyptic nature of the book is magnificently portrayed through Reilly's writing. Brent Reilly uses powerful descriptions to create a surreal atmosphere that allows the awakening of the audience's imagination and a cinematic depiction of the action.
The context of the novel is the 2012 presidential campaign. The Description involves treachery and Regolith is largely a cautionary tale with numerous subDescriptions (e.g., politics). More than anything else, Regolith will get you thinking about the real world, and the potential dangers that may be near-to which we continue to remain oblivious.
