SAP Extended Warehouse Management - FunctionsWith SAP EWM, all goods movements are controlled centrally and users are provided with tools to monitor warehouse activities.Additional processes can also be managed in the warehouse, such as managing serial numbers, batches, resource optimization, etc. With EWM, not only can the movement of goods in the warehouse be monitored, but the delivery of goods can also be efficiently controlled.Compared to SAP WM (Warehouse Management), EWM offers additional functions such as enhanced control of picking and storage as well as fundamentally more flexible warehouse management structures. Users can create activity areas, personnel management and work centers in SAP EWM that are not available in WM:Goods receipt, goods issue, cross docking and returns processingManagement of storage locations: With SAP EWM, users can control storage capacities, picking, booking and management of storage locations and goods receipts. The entire warehouse facility can be mapped in Extended Warehouse Management and set up according to different warehouse types.Correction of goods receipt: A changed or corrected goods receipt can be transferred back to the ERP system (ERP: Enterprise Resource Planning) using EWM.Optimization of storage capacities: With the help of EWM, the appropriate storage locations for products can be determined and the layout of the warehouse can be optimized.Workforce management: EWM enables users to create work packages for employees to perform in the warehouse. Each workstation can be personalized so that each employee sees exactly the fields, data and tabs they need to do their job.Vehicle tracking: All movements of vehicles and transporters can be tracked using advanced warehouse management.Dangerous goods: SAP EWM also covers the proper handling and storage of dangerous goods as well as their transport in accordance with the regulations of SAP Environmental Health & Safety ( SAP EHS ).Working time management: In SAP EWM, working hours and resources can be planned effectively, thus making warehouse processes more efficient.Graphical evaluation: The EWM Warehouse Cockpit can be used to graphically display warehouse key figures and to evaluate or monitor activities using defined diagram types.Cross docking: Cross docking enables handling units (a handling unit is a physical unit made up of packaging materials and the goods contained therein) to be transported across different distribution centers or warehouses until they reach their final location in the warehouse.Returns processing: EWM also enables the management of customer returns. Users can map return scenarios such as direct returns in the store or returns that involve a delivery to the warehouse.
